Peer Advisor Bios:

My name is Christina Caldwell from Ft. Jackson , SC .  I was raised by my mother who was in the Armed forces where we traveled worldwide 20 years of my life.  I've now settled down here in Ft. Myers, where I graduated from Estero High School and continue my education here at FGCU.  I’m majoring in Communication with a concentration in PR marketing minor.  I’m involved with the Organization of Students of African Descent, Scholars Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Voices of Inspiration & Praise, Phi Eta Sigma, Delta Sigma Theta, FGCU Cheerleading & Dance team, and am an RA.  I intend to use the skills I’m learning from clubs, school, and real life to become an events planner or work in PR . My campus involvement has been very rewarding and I’ve made great contacts.  If you asked me one thing that I will take away from college other than a degree, I will say that I have learned to manage time and money better than ever!

My name is Celine Elveus. I am a junior majoring in Public Relations. I transferred from Palm Beach Community College last spring. I love to read and like going to the movies a lot, but I always find time to complete my schoolwork. College is fun; studying can be hard if you procrastinate. Do not let work stack up! Always study; however don't forget to have fun.

Hello, My name is Lauren Esperon and I’m a transfer student from the University of Central Florida . I’m currently pursuing a Marketing major with an Economics Minor but I’m toying with the idea of possibly changing my major to Finance. I’m a Florida native, born in Miami and raised in Naples . I graduated from Gulf Coast High school (Go Sharks!) and I’m excited to be returning to Southwest Florida . The best part of college is getting involved, forming relationships and learning about yourself. Take each day as it comes and take advantage of the opportunities put in front of you, GOOD LUCK!

Hello, I'm Katie Liebl. I am a junior in Psychology and the Vice President of the Psychology Club. I spend a lot of time at church since I am planning on becoming a Christian councilor. After schoolwork and church, I'm either at the gym or relaxing to a good book or t.v. show. My advise for incoming freshmen is that FGCU is what you make of it! If you have fun by attending activities and joining clubs, FGCU will be a blast!   Make the most of the "best years of your life" by getting active!

Hello everybody, my name is Eric Nolen. I am sophomore here at FGCU and I am currently at Computer Information Systems major. I am from Plantation Florida , (near Ft. Lauderdale for those who don’t know). I'm also proud to say that I am a founding father of the Kappa Alpha Order: Zeta Pi chapter here at FGCU.  I’ve been in college for a year now and I can definitely say this university was the best possible decision I could have made. I’ve met some great people, had lots of fun, and in my opinion it’s just beginning!

Hello, my name is Tamara Prendergast, and I am a sophomore at FGCU.  I am currently majoring in Biology.  I enjoy hanging out with friends, shopping, and traveling.  I've learned that to be successful in college you have to work and study twice as hard as you used to, and set some time to relax and have fun.

My name is Joelle Robles and I am a sophomore at FGCU and my major is Social Work. I am originally from Rockledge, FL, more specifically 45 minutes away from Orlando, and 20 minutes away from Cocoa Beach. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and being involved in the Spanish Club. My best piece of advice for entering college freshman is to get involved! In high school I was very shy, but when I got to college I really opened up, because I met so many great friends, faculty, and staff. Getting involved on campus, whether it may be clubs or campus life, brings great experience and opportunity for your future college career.

Hello all, my name is Russell Shaw, and I will be entering my junior year this fall. I am majoring in Liberal Studies, a major offered by the college of Arts and Sciences which allows one to take a variety of upper level courses throughout our Universities individual colleges and combine them to fulfill graduation requirements. I plan to utilize this ability to my advantage by achieving a minor in business management while also fulfilling medical school admission requirements. I intend to attend medical school upon my graduation. I am a SWFL native and enjoy many of the wonderful aspects this area offers. I am an avid fisherman and love spending my precious free time getting away to the great outdoors. I believe the greatest advice possible to incoming freshmen is to take college seriously. This is not high school, and many will learn the hard way that procrastination is not acceptable. Keeping on top of things and learning how to effectively manage your time will help you out drastically. GOOD LUCK!

My name is Ashley Spooner, and I am from West Palm Beach , FL., specifically Lake Worth . I am currently a sophomore majoring in Biotechnology with a minor in Chemistry. I am planning on going on to medical school and from there become a Medical Examiner. I am a part of the Gresham-Kite Pilot Scholarship House where I hold the position of President. Besides school and a part-time job, I make time to do stuff with friends and family. You can be successful at school, work, your social life, and anything else if you remember to keep it balanced. SO ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS!

Hi! My name is Nicole Fink. I am a junior currently majoring in psychology, but I am thinking of changing my major. I love cooking, reading and laying on the beautiful beaches! My biggest piece of advice for college freshmen is to simply do your work and study for tests. After you get this done, you can have a blast! Good Luck!

My name is Jackie Voelker.  I'm a sophomore at FGCU and I'm majoring in Human Performance.  I enjoy spending time with friends and my boyfriend.  I love to travel, I will be going to Ireland at the end of the summer for almost a month!  I've learned a lot from my first year in college, but my best advice is time management!  Studying is a must, so be sure to set some time aside just for that, but most importantly give yourself some free time to have fun!
