Resources for Undecided Students

Explore FGCU major & career exploration resources New!

Students are encouraged to attend the Annual Major Fair Tuesday October 7th 2008.

Deciding students are encouraged to discuss their major choice considerations with their first year advisor.  First year advisors may provide career counseling referrals to the Office of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS).  CAPS counseling professionals provide both personal and career counseling services to students free of charge.  Students can also benefit by working with our Career Development Services Office which provides many opportunities for students to experience career fairs, develop resume writing skills, mock interview and research career paths with their many online and hard copy student resources.

All students who are undeclared after completing 2 full semesters will be advised through the College of Arts & Sciences.

Students in the process of deciding their major declaration have many resources on campus to utilize in gathering insight into themselves and how their interests, skills, and values may correspond with prospective majors and eventual career paths.  Students are encouraged to explore their interests, skills and values with FGCU's access to the My Plan website offering online career assessment.  The My Plan website serves as a great springboard for self awareness and exploration, however it is essential to build on this information with thorough investigation utilizing curricular research, career counseling, informational interviewing, shadowing, faculty interviews, meeting with college advisors, etc..

Students are encouraged to further explore their my plan assessment results with a professional career counselor through the Counseling & Psychological Services Office.  To schedule an appointment for career counseling call 239-590-7950.

The Career Development Services Office can assist with helping students investigate options, in addition to assisting students to find contacts for interviewing and/or shadowing professionals.  To schedule an appointment or to investigate FGCU's Career Development Services Office resources click here.
