FGCU is committed to the academic success of all student athletes.
Students are provided academic counseling by an athletic advisor in
the Athletics Department who monitors academic progress. Tutorial
assistance, mentoring, personal need counseling, career counseling and
programming which develops the academic, social, and athletic goals
is available to students.
Prospective student-athletes have to establish initial communication
with FGCU's Athletic Department by completing the Prospective Student
Athlete (P.S.A.) form that has to be signed by the student-athlete and
FGCU's coaching staff. These forms are available at the Athletics' trailer
(next to the Aquatics Center). To arrange a meeting with coaches please contact the FGCU's
Athletic Department at 239-590-7012.
Once the student-athlete has been put on the active squad list by the
coach for their respective team, an academic advising hold will be placed
on their student record to ensure the maintenance of full time enrollment
status and completion of degree requirements. Student-athletes will need to arrange a meeting with their academic
counselor in order to complete their registration form that must be
handed in to the Athletic Advisor before web registration each
semester. This will ensure proper placement within course work towards
degree requirements and best selection of a full time schedule around
practice and travel commitments.
