Description:  Academic Programs & Majors will be represented by college advisors, faculty, and senior level students in a centralized information clearinghouse coupled with free food and drinks.

The Annual Major Fair has grown into an FGCU tradition as we look forward to holding our 12th Annual Majors Fair Tuesday October 7, 2014.  First year students are encouraged to attend the event, however all students are welcome.  For many freshmen students this event offers an opportunity to meet faculty from majors they have declared or might be considering.  College advisors are also present to develop rapport with students and to assist in clarifying any questions students may have.  Students are encouraged to network with faculty and staff and be prepared to ask many questions.  It is in attending this event that students frequently solidify their interests and/or discover a major they had not previously considered.  Attendance of this event is an investment of insight into academic planning and often further develops the student career development process.

Student reactions to previous major fairs:

I didnt even know you had this program available, now I know I can stay here for all 4 years.

I have a lot of information to look into before I decide on my major. The information I picked up today will help me strategize what I need to do.

Now I have a good idea about how my major can lead into graduate school.

Im really looking forward to my junior year when I can start taking classes with the professor I met today.  Hes really enthusiastic about his program and I feel like I share this enthusiasm now. Before I just wasnt sure.
