  Math Enrollment Information

Depending upon ACT or SAT math scores some students will be required to take the math placement test at orientation (see information below).

Students may prepare for math testing within the following pdf (see directions):

Within these math pdf preparation materials:

  • Reference Elementary Algebra (EA) content on pgs. 5-6 if ACT math is 23 or less or if SAT math is 540 or less.
*Students who perform well on the Elementary Algebra test will be informed via their placement test results to consider taking the College Level Math test if their major requires higher level math enrollment.

  • Reference College Level Math (CLM) content on pgs. 7-8 if ACT math is 26 or higher or if SAT math score is 600 or higher.
*Students with ACT math scores of 24-25 & SAT math scores of 550-590 will also be given the choice to take the College Level Math test and will be provided information at orientation to determine if their major requires a higher level math enrollment.

ACT / SAT math qualifying scores & math placement testing

  • Students with official ACT math scores of 24 or higher & SAT math scores of 550 or higher are pre-qualified to enroll in College Algebra (MAC 1105 & MAC 1105L), Finite Math (MGF 1106), General Math (MGF 1107) and Statistics (STA 2023).
*Students with ACT math scores of 24-25 & SAT math scores of 550-590 will also be given the choice to take the College Level Math (CLM) test and will be provided information at orientation to determine if their major requires a higher level math enrollment.

  • See major tracks for recommended math sequences.  Undeclared students meeting the score criteria above are recommended to enroll in College Algebra (MAC 1105 & MAC 1105L).

  • Students with ACT math scores of 26 or higher and SAT math scores of 600 or higher will be automatically guided to take the College Level Math (CLM) test at orientation to gauge readiness for higher level math enrollment.
*Students with ACT math scores of 24-25 & SAT math scores of 550-590 will also be given the choice to take the College Level Math test and will be provided information at orientation to determine if their major requires a higher level math enrollment.

  • Students intending enrollment in calculus level math curriculum should discuss their intentions with a first year advisor as a testing referral for the Accuplacer College Level Math (CLM) test may be necessary.

  • Students with accelerated math credit from Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Dual Enrollment (DE), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), or college/university level math transfer credit should complete an accelerated credit declaration form for submission to their advisor the first day of freshmen orientation.

  • Students admitted without math remediation are automatically qualified to enroll in Intermediate Algebra (MAT 1033 & MAT 1033L).  Intermediate Algebra is a preparatory elective requiring a C or better grade to meet general education math prerequisite requirements.  The math placement test given at orientation will provide students not meeting the ACT & SAT math minimums referenced above the opportunity to test into higher levels of math enrollment via the Accuplacer Elementary Algebra (EA) placement test.
