As an FGCU
alumnus Adam brings enthusiasm for meeting student needs to the
management of the First
Year Advising Team and through his contributions to the the Office of
New Student Programs, which
includes Orientation and Parent Programs. Originally from Illinois, Adam holds a BA in Psychology
and
earned his masters in Counselor Education in 2000. Adam began his
employment with FGCU in 1998, serving as a research assistant, career
service staffer, and resident
counselor. Adam joined the advising department in
2000. He currently contributes to the FGCU advising community as vice-chair of the Academic
Advising Council and teaches the student success course Effective
Learning.
Adam oversees the
facilitation of the peer advisor training for our orientation leaders.
He also serves as the chapter
advisor to Kappa Alpha Order. As a frequent presenter at NACADA, Adam
enjoys advancing progressive practices in the advising
profession. His interests include promoting service excellence,
staff development, operational innovation and web technology to enhance student service delivery. Adam specializes in major exploration
and is the organizer of the Annual
FGCU Major Fair and Eagle Flight Plan. Adam is the web author/developer for
First Year Advising and strives to provide progressive utilization of
technology to supplement the advisement of FGCU students. Adam enjoys
kayaking, swimming, and motorcycle touring.
Ed is from Illinois where he earned a B.A. from the University of
Illinois in Anthropology in May 2008. After graduation he moved to
Germany to learn German, travel, and obtain a Masters Degree in
International Management from Schiller International University in
Heidelberg. While studying in Germany, Ed also worked as a University
Services Assistant and advised students from 36 countries. Upon
completion of his professional endeavors in Germany he traveled back to
the United States to attend the University of Southern Mississippi,
where he completed a Masters Degree in Education and Counseling. He
currently resides in Fort Myers with his wife, Alexis, and their dog, Ebba. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, cycling,
kayaking and going to the beach.
Patti earned her B.A. from Hiram College in International Economics and
Management and her M.A. in Counseling and Educational Psychology from
Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She started her professional
career working for the Girl Scouts and has worked in Higher Education
full-time since 1997. Although her work has been mostly in first year
programs, housing and residence life, she has also enjoyed teaching
workshops and classes. In her spare time, she enjoys craft projects,
reading, and auctions and is always willing to talk about the antics of
her two cats.
Jamie is from New York and attended the
University at Albany for her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling
and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While attending the University
at Albany she was involved in the peer crisis counseling hotline, and a
peer substance abuse awareness program. Jamie is currently applying to
FGCU’s Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and endeavors to start in the
Fall of 2012. Jamie comes to FGCU from Edison State College where she
was an academic advisor and adjunct professor for
Edison State College teaching virtual Human Services classes. Before
moving to Florida, Jamie was a Social Worker in New York working with
children; however she found higher education to be a better fit for her.
Jamie lives with her husband and two cats in Bonita Springs. She enjoys
reading, spending time with family and friends, and baking.
Samantha earned
a B.A. in History and Anthropology, while also completing a Museum
Studies certificate and a teaching licensure program at the University
of Iowa. She then spent some time working in a museum, serving as a
teacher, and acting as an art fair director and volunteer coordinator
for a local arts organization before identifying her passion for student
affairs. Samantha then returned to Iowa to earn her M.A. in Student
Development in Post-Secondary Education. She has held positions with
admissions, orientation, and retention programs and is very excited to
experience all that Fort Myers and FGCU have to offer as she acclimates
to her new position as Academic Counselor. Samantha looks forward to
visiting local museums, landmarks and natural wonders, and art fairs, as
well as spending a lot of time in Disney World.
Tasha
graduated in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and
minors in Creative Writing and Interdisciplinary Studies. Tasha is now
pursuing a Masters degree in School Counseling here at Florida Gulf
Coast University. Her goal is to become an Academic Advisor in Higher
Education and a motivational speaker. Tasha was raised in Naples,
Florida, where she graduated from Golden Gate High School; Class of
2006. As an undergraduate she was involved in Resident Housing
Association, Student Support Services, and the Black Student Alliance.
Tasha volunteers her time to the Shelter for Abused Women and Children
of Collier County. She is also affiliated with Big Brother Big Sisters
of Collier County, because she has had a wonderful mentor for the past
14 years through this excellent program. Eagle View Orientation has
given Tasha the opportunity to work with many students of multiple
ethnic backgrounds, sharing her knowledge of FGCU and providing a
wonderful first time experience for new students. Tasha has contributed
progressive leadership as an Orientation Leader, Orientation Student
Assistant, Orientation Team Leader, Student Program Assistant and now
serves as a Sr. Advising Assistant.
Beverley earned her B.S. degree in
Business Management from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. Her
fiancé and their two cats have lived in Bonita Springs for 10 years. In
2009 she decided to pursue her life-long dream of teaching and began the
Teacher Immersion Program at FGCU. After earning her Florida State
Teaching Certificate she began working on her Master’s degree in
Curriculum and Instruction in Education Technology at FGCU. Beverley
enjoys yoga, cooking for family and friends, and walks on the beach.
Rob currently is attending Georgia Southern
University is Statesboro Georgia pursing a master’s degree in Higher
Education Administration. Originally from Miami, FL he completed his
undergraduate degree at Florida International University. At Georgia
Southern Rob works for the Office of fraternity and sorority relations
advising the 14 fraternities on campus as well as coordinating school
events. Rob joined FGCU as the NODA intern for the summer of 2012.
During his spare time he is out exploring the beautiful city of Ft.
Myers, going to the beach, exploring FGCU or catching a baseball game.
